[...] Jetsunma demonstrating the correct use of the vajra bell. It is held in the left hand, and balanced with the vajra held at the heart in the right. The vajra bell represents the yoni, the female organ. The vajra represents the lingam, the male organ. The yoni is essentially a wild power, which if left to its own devices, will most definitely get all parties involved very quickly into trouble. Its symbol, the vajra bell, is ALWAYS held in the subordinate or feminine hand, the left, to signify its submission to the Guru. Everyone in the vajra sangha, male and female, holds the vajra bell in the left. For the male, it represents his dakini. For the female, or dakini, it represents herself. The wild power of the yoni can also be balanced by the double-headed spirit drum used in the right. Almost never is the vajra bell used alone, and never for very long. Neither the vajra bell nor the vajra, nor any of the drums involved in the tantra should be used casually. [...]
