Empowerments

An empowerment (Tib. wang) is a ritual ceremony through which a qualified Vajrayana Buddhist master confers initiation. Empowerments are given to ripen the mind for practice.  Receiving an empowerment is a blessing, but also a responsibility.  The teacher is investing in the student.  Frequently the master gives samaya (commitment), requiring the student to regularly perform the practice and/or mantra accumulation.  The benefit of such practice is that the student continuously nourishes that seed, which is none other than his or her own enlightened nature.

KPC frequently hosts visiting Buddhist masters who confer empowerments.  To find out more about upcoming empowerments and teachings, please see our calendar or sign up for our e-newsletter.
