KPC’s California Center, affectionately known as Palyul West, is located in Santa Barbara at a private home where students gather for prayer, group practices, and Buddhist teachings from visiting teachers.
The resident teacher is Norma Byrne, one of Jetsunma’s longtime students, who was authorized by Jetsunma to serve as a Buddhist minister to teach, perform marriages and other ministerial functions.
The main practice at Palyul West is the Prayer Vigil, ongoing without interruption for 12 hours each Wednesday since February, 2015. Other practices include Shower of Blessings, Ngondro, Rigzin Dupa, and Yumka.
Palyul West’s altar was consecrated on March 2015 by Dragmar Tulku. And in 2016 Jetsunma offered her personal stupa to the community, which is installed.
New students are always welcome to join the prayer vigil, attend teachings and group practices.
