Celebrating 40 years of the Prayer Vigil, KPC has been a place of refuge and prayer for all who come, Buddhists and non-Buddhists alike. With the blessing of Her Eminence Jetsunma Ahkön Lhamo, all are welcome here.

The days are getting shorter, the nights cooler, but activity, and a place of refuge at KPC remains constant. Our magical koi, curious goats, Tsering the cat, and warm community are here to welcome everyone, whether you are Buddhist or not.

Tuesday Drum Circle Moves to the Totem Pole

Tuesday, October 21, 6 pm

Outside Prayer Room

As it is getting darker earlier, starting October 21, the Tuesday evening Drum Circle will take place at the Totem Pole outside the Prayer Room, where there is light. Jetsunma envisioned the Totem Pole as a strong symbol of our place, with the animals, the plants, and the land all in harmony.

The Sunday Drum Circle continues at 1pm at the Guru Rinpoche Statue in the Peace Park.

Join us weekly for sacred mantras and joyful music dedicated to bringing nourishing rain everywhere it is needed. Beginners welcome. Drums provided, or bring your own!

Mid Atlantic Koi Club Meeting – RESCHEDULED

Sunday, October 26, 1-3pm

Due to inclement weather, the Mid Atlantic Koi Club meeting originally scheduled for October 12, has been rescheduled to Sunday, October 26. Nyungne Retreat

November 8 – 10

Prayer Room only (no online option)

With the blessing of Spiritual Director Jetsunma Akhön Norbu Lhamo, KPC Maryland invites you to join us for a Nyungne Retreat, led by retreat master Khenpo Tenzin Karze.

Nyungne is a challenging practice. It involves fasting, long hours of chanting, and prostrations. It is also one of the most powerful practices in Vajrayana Buddhism to purify environmental pollution and our own faults, and increase positive energy and harmony that can pacify the suffering of all beings and bring peace to the world.

To learn more about Nyungne practice, see the complete schedule and register, scan the QR code or visit bit.ly/KPCNyungne.

If you have questions about your ability to participate, please email us at kpc@tara.org.

Every day at KPC, there are prayers and practices taking place, in person and online. Everyone is welcome to attend them, for the full practice or any portion, Buddhist and non-Buddhist alike. Visit the KPC Calendar for a complete list of our practices and events. Please note, times are subject to change.

One such activity is our meditation classes.

Khenpo Karze teaching a full meditation class in KPC's Prayer Room, with an audience of lay students, monks and nuns, some seated in chairs and some on cushions on the floor.

Meditation Classes

Saturdays, 11:00-11:50 am

Sundays, 11:30 am-1:00 pm

Prayer Room, Facebook Live, YouTube Live

On Saturdays, join us for a guided meditation session open to all levels, led by Atira Zeoli and Tara Wise. Saturday’s session includes traditional practices such as Shamatha (calm abiding) and Tonglen (sending and receiving), as well as Jetsunma’s Light Expansion Prayer.

On Sundays, Khenpo Karze offers a dharma talk and meditation session followed by Q&A. Sunday’s meditation focus varies from class to class. Recent classes have included contemplations on impermanence, karma, and the all-pervasiveness of suffering.  Each session concludes with a brief Chenrezig practice, and a dedication prayer that our efforts benefit all beings.
