40th Anniversary of KPC’s 24-hour Prayer Vigil

On April 18, 1985, KPC Spiritual Director, Jetsunma Ahkön Lhamo and her students made a commitment to pray nonstop until there was no more suffering. The prayer vigil has continued without interruption since then, 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year – for 40 years.
While you’re at work, someone is praying. While you’re asleep… someone is praying. That’s more than 350,600 hours of continuous prayers, with over 150,000 prayer requests honored from around the world.
To mark the 40th anniversary of this miraculous work, we invite you to join us Sunday, April 27, 1-4pm on the front lawn of the KPC temple for refreshments and community. We’ll have family-friendly activities, including prayer flag making, tours of the prayer room where the Prayer Vigil takes place, the Enlightenment Stupa on the temple grounds, and the Guru Rinpoche statue and Migyur Dorje Stupa in the Peace Park across the street. Enjoy the serene beauty of the koi ponds and say hello to the goats, pigs, and our unofficial greeter, Tsering, the cat.
Come find out what it takes to keep a prayer vigil going nonstop for 40 years!
